Arsenal Transfer News: New Bruno Guimarães Bid Readied as Vinícius Júnior Wage Demands Emerge
1
Arsenal are preparing a €90 million offer for Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimarães, according to Nicolò Schira. The Brazilian wants the move to the Emirates, but Newcastle have no intention of selling and will demand €120m to even consider a summer transfer. Despite some reports, Arsenal have not yet directly contacted Newcastle over the deal, though that is expected to change soon. Guimarães, who has made 195 appearances for Eddie Howe’s side, has two years left on his contract at St James’ Park.
Arsenal are also among the clubs being kept informed of Vinícius Júnior’s situation at Real Madrid. The Brazilian superstar’s contract expires in 2027 with no renewal in sight. His representatives are seeking a weekly salary of £500,000 – a figure Madrid are unwilling to meet – and Vinícius has indicated he wants to move to England. Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United are all monitoring his situation.
Former Norway international John Arne Riise has dismissed talk that Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard could leave this summer. Ødegaard scored one goal and provided six assists in 32 Premier League appearances last season, and with two years left on his contract, his long-term future has been questioned. But Riise believes a departure is unlikely. “I can’t picture him leaving because he’s obviously happy there and he’s the captain,” Riise said. “He needs to start well next season and get the fans back supporting him again.”
Arsenal have added Lutsharel Geertruida to their shortlist of right‑back targets. The 25‑year‑old spent last season on loan at Sunderland and has since returned to RB Leipzig. A fee of just €25m may be enough to sign him permanently, but Liverpool are also interested.
Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers has praised fellow Arsenal target Ezri Konsa ahead of England’s World Cup quarter‑final against Norway. Both players are on Arsenal’s radar for the 2026‑27 campaign. “I think he’s one of the best centre‑backs in football,” Rogers said of Konsa. “I don’t know a flaw in his game. He goes under the radar massively, but in these conversations of the best centre‑backs, he is right up there.”
