Arsenal Transfer News Today: Gunners close in on record deal after breakthrough talks
sources runs through the latest transfer news, rumours and gossip, including updates on , and Christos Tzolis.
Arsenal learn Barcola price tag
The 23-year-old has been identified as a possible summer signing by several top clubs across Europe amid his uncertain future at the Parc des Princes, and it’s understood that both Arsenal and Liverpool are vying to secure his signature before Deadline Day.
However, PSG aren’t willing to let him leave without earning significant compensation and they have slapped a €150m asking price on his head, as per a report from L’Equipe.
They are even hoping that he will extend his current contract, which is due to expire in 2028, however, Barcola himself is open to an exit, with Arsenal and Liverpool currently the frontrunners to sign the €150m-rated forward.
Arsenal set to complete record signing
Arsenal are ready to finalise a record transfer deal for winger Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge after weeks of negotiations.
The Gunners had been in advanced talks to sign the Greek international but they were waiting on a resolution over the future of , who is set to join Besiktas for €20m.
media now report that Arsenal are close to completing an agreement to sign Tzolis for around £35m (€41.7m) before the 24-year-old eventually travels for a medical.
The fee would represent a record amount paid for a Greek player and shouldn’t impact the ambition to sign Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa.
Romano gives Bruno Guimaraes update
Romano said: “My understanding is that Bruno Guimarees wants to join Arsenal. He has made it clear that his preference is to move to London and play for Arsenal. Personal terms would not be an issue.
“However, Bruno has handled the situation with complete respect towards Newcastle. Unlike other transfer situations we have seen in the past, he has not gone to the club demanding a move or threatening to create problems if he is not sold.
“If Newcastle reach an agreement with Arsenal, Bruno will be very happy to make the move. If they cannot reach an agreement, Bruno will continue to respect Newcastle's decision and remain fully professional.
“My understanding, from sources involved and close to the negotiations, is that a transfer fee of around £90 million would be the starting point for discussions. At this stage, Arsenal are not offering £90 million. That is why negotiations will be crucial.”
Arsenal ‘did everything’ to sign wonderkid
The 16-year-old has officially joined Club Brugge following his exit from West Ham United and he has immediately linked up with Club NXT - the Belgian side’s reserve team - ahead of next season.
We have been told that Arsenal, Ajax, AC Milan and Barcelona all “tried everything” to sign Fejokwu this summer, but he opted to complete a move to Club Brugge instead and he has now been formally announced as the club’s latest signing.
Fejokwu, a central defender, has played for both England and Netherlands at U15 and U16 level, while he is also eligible to represent Nigeria. He made 11 appearances in the U18 Premier League for West Ham last season, scoring once, and he has officially signed a three-year contract at Club Brugge, valid until 2029.
Meslier deal completed
The Gunners’ only piece of incoming business so far has been turning Piero Hincapie’s loan into a permanent deal, although they are working on a deal to sign Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle.
In the meantime, Arsenal have announced the signing of Illan Meslier after the Frenchman left Leeds United last month upon the expiry of his contract.
Meslier comes in to provide competition for David Raya in goal, with current backup Kepa Arrizabalaga considering his options amid a desire for more first team football.
