Arsenal Face Uphill Battle for Morgan Rogers as Manchester United Move for Tielemans Bolsters Villa's Hand
0
Arsenal have been made aware that their pursuit of Morgan Rogers just got a whole lot tougher, with Aston Villa now in a stronger position to demand a record-breaking fee for the 23-year-old.
Manchester United are closing in on a deal for Villa midfielder Youri Tielemans, with a €41 million release clause expected to be triggered, according to reports. That incoming cash, combined with Lucas Digne’s anticipated move to Paris Saint-Germain, gives Unai Emery’s side the financial breathing room to hold out for the €152 million (£130 million) valuation placed on Rogers — a sum that would shatter the British transfer record.
Rogers, an England international, was a key figure for Villa last season as they won the Europa League, posting 14 goals and 11 assists across all competitions. Arsenal are understood to be keen on adding him to their attack ahead of the 2026-27 campaign, but the price tag may prove prohibitive.
The situation is further complicated by Villa’s own need to comply with UEFA’s financial regulations, though the exits of Tielemans and Digne should ease those concerns. Meanwhile, Villa are also finalising a move for Johan Manzambi from SC Freiburg, with the deal valued at over €60 million (£51.1 million). The 20-year-old Swiss international, who impressed at the World Cup this summer with three goals and two assists before Switzerland’s quarter-final loss to Argentina, reportedly turned down Newcastle United in favor of moving to Villa Park. Emery’s side defeated Freiburg 3-0 in last season’s Europa League final, giving them a firsthand look at the young forward.
