'No Regrets' – Tuchel Reflects on England's World Cup Semi-Final Loss to Argentina

0
Thomas Tuchel insisted he had no regrets about his tactical approach, even as England crashed out of the World Cup at the semi-final stage with a 2-1 defeat to Argentina at Atlanta Stadium. The England manager acknowledged his side became "too passive" after taking the lead, allowing Argentina to turn the game around. "We scored first and then we dropped off too much," Tuchel said. "We gave them space and they punished us." Despite the loss, Tuchel maintained that the team executed much of the game plan. The result means England's wait for a first World Cup title since 1966 continues, but Tuchel pointed to the progress made during the tournament as a foundation to build on. Argentina advanced to the final after a hard-fought victory, with their attacking quality proving decisive in the second half. England had chances to level late on but could not find the breakthrough.
