James a doubt for Mexico clash but Quansah returns to full training

0
Reece James missed England's final training session before their World Cup round of 16 showdown with Mexico, but Jarell Quansah has been cleared to play. The Chelsea right-back hasn't trained with the squad since pulling up with a hamstring injury late in the goalless draw against Ghana. He was the only player absent from Saturday's session in Mexico City, with the FA confirming he is working on an individual rehab plan. On the positive side, Quansah took part in full training and is in contention for Monday's fixture at the Azteca. The Liverpool defender, who can play centrally or on the right, had been sidelined with a hamstring problem sustained against Panama. His recovery eases some of the pressure on Thomas Tuchel's backline, especially after Djed Spence started at right-back against DR Congo and Declan Rice filled in there late on. Rice has also been managing a hamstring issue but is expected to be available for the last-16 tie.
