Celtic Face £10m Dilemma as Agent Pushes for Haissem Hassan Move
0
Celtic’s pursuit of Egypt international Haissem Hassan has reached a critical point, with the Glasgow club now forced to decide whether to trigger the winger’s release clause or risk losing him to a rival suitor.
Sources indicate that the Hoops have already submitted a bid for the 24-year-old, but it fell well short of the £10 million (€12m) figure that Real Oviedo are demanding to part with their star man. That offer was swiftly rejected by the Segunda División side, who are adamant that any deal must meet the exit clause in full.
Complicating matters for Celtic, Hassan’s agent is actively exploring alternatives in Ligue 1. Paris FC have emerged as a potential destination, though a move to the French capital is considered an outside bet at this stage. The agent’s push for a quick resolution has put extra pressure on Celtic’s board, who are known for their cautious approach in the transfer market.
Oviedo’s recently appointed sporting director, David Fernandez, made the club’s stance clear: “Haissem Hassan is owned by Oviedo. We will have a firm policy for bringing in players and managing departures.” The Spanish outfit are determined to hold onto Hassan as they chase promotion back to La Liga, and have made it known that any offer below the release clause will be rejected outright.
Hassan’s release clause originally stood at £16m (€19m) but dropped after Oviedo’s relegation from the top flight. The winger contributed three assists last season and earned two World Cup appearances for Egypt. Celtic’s initial bid was reportedly in the region of £3.4m (€5m), though that figure has not been officially confirmed.
With the transfer window ticking and the agent turning up the heat, Celtic must now decide whether to match the asking price or step away.
