Celtic Complete €5m Deal for Qarabag Striker Camilo Duran

Celtic have reached a full agreement with Qarabag to sign Colombian striker Camilo Duran for a fee worth more than €5 million including add-ons, with the player already on his way to Glasgow to undergo a medical.
Duran, 24, will become the Hoops’ first signing of the 2026 summer transfer window after flying out of Qarabag’s training camp. Azerbaijani outlet SportInfo confirmed the move, stating a three-year contract has been agreed with an option for a further 12 months.
The exact base fee hasn’t been disclosed, but reports indicate Celtic’s total outlay will exceed €5 million once performance-related clauses are triggered. If those bonuses are met, Duran will become Qarabag’s most expensive sale in history, surpassing Juninho’s €5m move to Flamengo in 2024.
Duran arrives after a prolific season for the Azerbaijani champions, netting 20 goals across all competitions. Five of those came in just 10 Champions League appearances – a return that caught the eye of Celtic manager Martin O’Neill.
Primarily a centre-forward, Duran also offers versatility on both wings. He played as a right winger on several occasions last term and even filled in on the left twice. That flexibility could prove crucial as Celtic brace for the possible departure of Daizen Maeda, with the Japan international keen to explore his options and the club reportedly open to a sale if the right offer arrives.
Duran originally joined Qarabag from Portuguese second-division side Portimonense for just €200,000 last August. After a modest return of five goals in 26 league games in Portugal, he blossomed in Baku and now secures a move to Scottish football.
He will become the eighth player to leave Qarabag this summer, following Leandro Andrade, Kevin Medina, Toral Bayramov, Fabijan Buntic, Ramil Sheydayev, Emmanuel Addai and Amin Ramazanov.
