Real Madrid Officially Deny Enzo Fernandez Transfer Pursuit

0
Real Madrid have issued a firm statement dismissing any talk of a summer move for Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez, shutting down the speculation that has swirled around the Argentina international in recent days. The Spanish giants took the unusual step of publishing an official denial on their website, making it clear there have been no discussions – direct or indirect – with the Blues or the player's camp regarding a transfer. The club also stressed that it has no intention of pursuing such a deal. Fernandez, who still has six years left on his contract at Stamford Bridge, has been repeatedly linked with a switch to the Bernabeu during the current window. Reports suggested the 23-year-old World Cup winner was keen on reuniting with his former Chelsea teammate Marc Cucurella in Madrid. However, Los Blancos have now poured cold water on those rumors. In a strongly worded statement, Real Madrid said: "In light of the reports and statements that have appeared in recent days regarding an alleged interest from Real Madrid CF in the player Enzo Fernández, the club wishes to state that it has not made any effort, either direct or indirect, to sign the aforementioned player and, likewise, has no intention of undertaking such an operation." The club added that it holds both Fernandez and Chelsea in high regard and felt compelled to deny what it called "unfounded speculations" out of respect for the Premier League side and the principles of institutional loyalty. "Precisely because of the respect that an entity like Chelsea FC deserves and because of the principles of institutional loyalty that have always governed the actions of Real Madrid, the club considers it necessary to categorically deny speculations that are unfounded and do not correspond to reality," the statement continued. Real Madrid expressed regret that information not backed by any club action continues to circulate, causing confusion among supporters and unnecessary harm to those involved. For now, Fernandez remains firmly a Chelsea player, with the London club showing no signs of wanting to part ways with the midfielder they signed for a British record fee in January 2023.
