Alonso faces huge Chelsea decision as Romano confirms shock transfer interest Serie A side are reportedly interested in defender as they prepare for their first ever Champions League campaign next season. The England international, who was a late call-up to Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup squad, made 47 appearances across all competitions for Chelsea last year, establishing himself as one of the club’s first-choice centre-backs in Levi Colwill’s absence. However, Chalobah’s current contract at Stamford Bridge is due to expire in 2028 and the club are therefore expected to field offers for the 26-year-old if they are unable to finalise fresh terms ahead of the new season. Chelsea aren’t actively looking to sell Chalobah, but they are understood to be open to a departure if they receive a suitable bid that matches their asking price. Multiple clubs across European football have been linked with the Chelsea academy graduate in recent years and transfer expert insider has now confirmed that Como, who are managed by ex-Blues star Cesc Fabregas, are among the teams keeping close tabs on Chalobah. He posted on X: “Como are interested in Chelsea CB Trevoh Chalobah but there’s big gap in valuation at this stage. Difficult deal as Chelsea value Chalobah highly and Como are being careful with their budget.” Chalobah has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €51.6 million and he would become Como’s all-time record signing if the Italian outfit opt to match that valuation this summer. Will Wesley Fofana leave? Fellow centre-back also faces an uncertain long-term future at Chelsea, with just two years remaining on his current deal too. The Frenchman arrived at Stamford Bridge from Leicester City for a fee of €80.4m in 2022, with a reputation as one of the best young defenders in Europe, but injuries have restricted his involvement and his form since the beginning of the calendar year has been a real concern. report that a fee of €34.6m will be required for Chelsea to ensure they avoid recording a loss on Fofana, due to the way football accounting works, and his ETV is almost exactly that figure - €34.2m. The Frenchman isn’t expected to be a guaranteed starter alongside Levi Colwill next season, with the club set to sign a new centre-back to fill this role, and he isn’t regarded as one of the Blues’ untouchables, unlike Josh Acheampong. As a result, a sale will be considered, with Fofana, Chalobah, Benoit Badiashile, Axel Disasi and Mamadou Sarr all potentially set to depart Stamford Bridge amid a centre-back clear-out.
