Chelsea Prepare €25m Improved Bid for Rayo Vallecano Left-Back Pep Chavarria

Chelsea are stepping up their pursuit of Rayo Vallecano defender Pep Chavarria and are expected to lodge an improved offer worth €25 million, according to reports in Spain. The 28-year-old Spaniard has emerged as a priority left-back target for the Blues, who are ready to submit a fresh bid that includes add-ons to reach the €25m mark. Marca reports that negotiations between the two clubs are advancing, with Chavarria keen on reuniting with his compatriot Xabi Alonso at Stamford Bridge next season. Chavarria made 44 appearances across all competitions for Rayo Vallecano last term, contributing four goals and assists. If the move goes through, he is expected to serve as cover for Jorrel Hato rather than walk straight into the starting XI. The article claims that a “firm agreement” is already in place between Chavarria and Chelsea, and the player is hopeful that a transfer fee can be agreed so he can fulfill his dream of playing in the Premier League. Rayo Vallecano president Raul Presa is handling the talks directly and may demand a fixed €25m fee to sanction the sale. Meanwhile, Chelsea are also working on other deals this summer. Crystal Palace defender Maxence Lacroix remains a key centre-back target after Jan Paul van Hecke’s move to Tottenham Hotspur. The Blues plan to offload Axel Disasi, Trevoh Chalobah and Benoit Badiashile to make room for Lacroix, who would partner Levi Colwill at the heart of defence. Chelsea are also competing with Arsenal for Aston Villa attacker Morgan Rogers, while midfield reinforcements are being considered following Andrey Santos’ departure to Manchester United. Adam Wharton remains a name in the conversation, and Valentin Barco is expected to arrive from sister club Strasbourg.
