Chelsea Transfer Roundup: Garnacho For Sale, Chavarria Bid Coming, Lacroix Interest Confirmed But Patience Needed
0
Chelsea are shaping up for a busy period in the transfer market, with several moves progressing behind the scenes. Here is the latest on the key names.
Alejandro Garnacho is firmly on the market. According to multiple reliable reports, the Argentine winger – who only arrived from Manchester United last summer – is being offered to clubs as Chelsea look to offset another heavy financial loss. Two unnamed Champions League sides have already shown interest, and sources suggest AS Roma and Napoli could be the ones circling. The 21-year-old’s departure now feels like a matter of when, not if.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are preparing a fresh offer for Rayo Vallecano left-back Pep Chavarria. Personal terms with the 28-year-old are already settled, but Rayo are refusing to budge. They want the full €50 million release clause triggered, especially since letting Chavarria go would leave them without a natural left-back. Chelsea have already seen bids of €9m and €15m turned down and are now ready to go back with an improved proposal. “From what I understand, Chelsea are preparing to submit a new official bid in the coming days,” transfer insider insider has confirmed.
On the defensive side, patience will be required if Chelsea want to land Crystal Palace centre-back Maxence Lacroix. Reports in France had suggested the French international would join the Blues after the World Cup, but Palace sources insist no contact has been made – let alone a deal. Romano agrees: “For now, patience is required because Crystal Palace will only allow one of their key players to leave if they receive the right fee and secure a suitable replacement first.”
A move for Aston Villa attacker Morgan Rogers looks unlikely. Despite admirers at Stamford Bridge, the combination of a massive price tag – Villa are reportedly demanding a British-record fee exceeding €150m after Elliot Anderson’s €135m move to Manchester City – and competition from elsewhere means Chelsea are not expected to push for a deal.
Finally, Chelsea are close to agreeing a new contract with teenage talent Derry. The 19-year-old, who joined from Crystal Palace last year, made his senior debut in the FA Cup in February and later featured in the Premier League before an injury stopped his momentum. His current deal runs until 2029, but Chelsea want to tie him down on improved terms to ward off interest from across Europe.
