Chelsea Transfer Roundup: Casado Rebuffs Blues, Goalkeeper Shake-Up, and Schjelderup in the Mix

0
Chelsea are facing a pivotal summer window, with midfield target Marc Casado turning down a move to Stamford Bridge, two goalkeepers set to depart, and a rising Norwegian star emerging as a prime target. According to reports, Barcelona’s Marc Casado has rejected advances from Chelsea and Manchester City. The 22-year-old midfielder, who struggled for minutes last season, is determined to join a club where he can secure regular first-team football. That demand has ruled out the Blues and City, while a switch to Manchester United also fails to excite him despite their long-standing interest. Meanwhile, Chelsea are preparing for a goalkeeper overhaul. Filip Jorgensen has requested to leave after failing to establish himself, aiming to become Denmark’s No.1. Gabriel Slonina, once a highly rated prospect, has also asked to move on after his development stalled at the club. Although Mike Penders will return from a loan at Strasbourg to join the fold, the Blues will need to sign a third-choice keeper and are now scanning the market for options. On the attacking front, Andreas Schjelderup is being tracked by Chelsea. The Benfica winger, fresh from a strong World Cup campaign, is weighing his future after being offered a new contract by the Portuguese club. The 22-year-old Norway international has yet to respond, with several Premier League sides monitoring the situation. Benfica are holding out for at least €40 million, boosted by his €100m release clause. In a separate development, AS Roma have held talks with the representatives of West Ham’s Crysencio Summerville. The Dutch winger is seen as a credible target for the Serie A side ahead of their Champions League return. This could complicate Chelsea’s plans, as Roma have also discussed a deal for an Argentine winger the Blues are keen to offload, though no breakthrough has been reached. Finally, AS Monaco striker Folarin Balogun has emerged as a potential target for Chelsea. The 25-year-old endured a difficult World Cup with the United States and faces an uncertain future at Monaco, who are willing to listen to offers. However, Balogun reportedly steered clear of Chelsea in 2023 when he left Arsenal and may do so again.
