Chelsea Transfers: Balogun Green Light Emerges as Improved Bid Sent for Chavarria

0
Chelsea are pushing forward on multiple fronts in the summer window, with new developments on both Folarin Balogun and Pep Chavarria leading the latest round of transfer activity. According to Foot Mercato, AS Monaco have begun lining up replacements for Balogun, signaling they are ready to listen to offers for the United States international. The striker netted 19 goals in all competitions last season, but the Ligue 1 side need to raise funds and are now open to a sale. Monaco are in talks for Nantes forward Mathis Abline, while Auxerre’s Lassine Sinayoko is also being monitored as a potential successor. Chelsea, who have been tracking Balogun, have received encouragement from these developments. Meanwhile, the Blues have submitted a second bid for Rayo Vallecano left-back Pep Chavarria, this time worth around €17.5m. The initial offer was reportedly €10.5m, and while the new proposal is improved, it still falls short of Rayo’s €24.5m asking price. Chelsea are looking to reinforce at left-back after Marc Cucurella’s expected move to Real Madrid. In other news, Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has issued a warning about the immediate impact of Andrey Santos, after the Red Devils agreed a €58m deal to bring the Brazilian from Stamford Bridge. “Is he the guy who is going to replace Casemiro? I don’t think he is the guy who immediately jumps into those shoes and performs at that level right now,” Ferdinand said. He added that Santos has potential and could partner Kobbie Mainoo long-term, but warned fans not to expect instant stardom. Chelsea have also finalised a loan deal for academy defender Harrison Murray-Campbell, who will spend the season with Belgian side KV Kortrijk. The 19-year-old, a nominee for the Premier League 2 Player of the Year award, is seen as one of the club’s brightest prospects.
