Chelsea on the Verge of Announcing 13th Summer Transfer as Trevoh Chalobah Nears Como Move

0
Como are closing in on the signing of Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah, with a meeting scheduled to finalise the deal, according to reports in Italy. Cesc Fabregas’ side have identified the 27-year-old England international as a key summer target and, after lengthy negotiations, they look set to beat Serie A rivals Inter Milan to his signature ahead of the 2026–27 season. Chalobah has been an important figure for Chelsea since returning from a loan spell at Crystal Palace in January 2025. However, with only two years left on his contract at Stamford Bridge and the Blues missing out on European football last campaign, the club are keen to sanction a sale. Inter had previously been considered the frontrunners, but Como have emerged as the most likely destination in recent days and are now ready to close the deal, as reported by Italian transfer journalist insider. It’s understood that an agreement on the transfer fee has been reached between the clubs, and a meeting has been scheduled for all parties to finalise the move shortly. Chalobah is eager to join Fabregas’ project ahead of Como’s first ever Champions League campaign. Last season, Chalobah made 47 appearances across all competitions for Chelsea, scoring three goals. He was a late call-up to England’s World Cup squad following an injury to Valentino Livramento before the tournament, but was one of only two outfield players — alongside Kobbie Mainoo — who did not see any game time in North America. Chelsea have already completed 12 deals this summer across the first team and U21s. Marco Palestra, Geovany Quenda, Emmanuel Emegha, Dastan Satpaev and Denner have joined to bolster Xabi Alonso’s squad, while Marc Cucurella, Andrey Santos, Tyrique George, Jimmy-Jay Morgan and Frankie Runham have been sold. Academy youngsters Jesse Derry and Harrison Murray-Campbell have been sent out on loan, and more business is expected before the summer window closes on 1 September. Axel Disasi, Benoit Badiashile, Alejandro Garnacho, David Datro Fofana and Filip Jorgensen are among those likely to be sold permanently, while Shim Mheuka is available for loan. Chelsea are also expected to sign Strasbourg midfielder Valentin Barco and Rayo Vallecano defender Pep Chavarria, and remain in talks with Crystal Palace over a deal for centre-back target Maxence Lacroix.
