Chelsea eye €58m Summerville as cheaper alternative to Rogers

Chelsea are considering a summer move for West Ham United winger Crysencio Summerville, with reports in Italy suggesting the Blues view the Dutch international as a more affordable option than Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers. According to Il Resto del Carlino, Chelsea have been monitoring Summerville’s situation closely. The 24-year-old impressed individually during a difficult season for the Hammers, scoring seven Premier League goals as the club finished 18th and slipped into the Championship. Summerville also made an impact on the international stage, netting twice and providing two assists in four appearances for the Netherlands at the World Cup. That form has put him on the radar of several top clubs. insider sources understands that Manchester United are also keen on Summerville following West Ham’s relegation, while Liverpool have been credited with interest as well. The former Leeds man could be available for around €58m (£50m) this summer. Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has already been active in the transfer market, with Italy defender Marco Palestra arriving from Atalanta for a six-year deal. The Blues are also looking to bring in a centre-back and a left-back, with Crystal Palace’s Maxence Lacroix and Rayo Vallecano’s Pep Chavarria on their shortlist. Meanwhile, outgoings continue at Stamford Bridge. Marc Cucurella and Tyrique George have joined Real Madrid and Everton respectively, while Andrey Santos is close to a €58m move to Manchester United.
