Fenerbahce complete €39m signing of Mason Greenwood from Marseille

Fenerbahce have officially secured English forward Mason Greenwood from Marseille on a four-year contract, the Turkish club confirmed on Monday.
The Super Lig giants are paying €39 million (£33.27m) for the 24-year-old, though the club had earlier indicated the total package could reach €45 million (£38.36m). Greenwood finished joint-second in the 2025–26 Ligue 1 golden boot race with 16 goals, trailing only Rennes’ Esteban Lepaul.
Both Fenerbahce presidential candidates — eventual winner Aziz Yildirim and rival Hakan Safi — had publicly declared their interest in signing Greenwood before the elections in early June.
“Hello Fenerbahce family, thank you so much for the support you have shown me. I am very happy to be here,” Greenwood said in a club statement.
Greenwood scored 48 goals in 81 appearances across all competitions during his time at Marseille, having joined the French side from Manchester United in July 2024 for £26.6 million. United, who raised Greenwood through their academy, negotiated a sizeable sell-on clause believed to be around 40%.
The forward had not played for United since January 2022 after being arrested on charges of attempted rape and assault. Those charges were dropped in February 2023, and after an internal inquiry, United decided he would not return to the club. He spent the 2023–24 season on loan at Spanish side Getafe.
Fenerbahce, who finished second in the Turkish Super Lig for the fifth consecutive season, will face Poland’s Gornik Zabrze in the second qualifying round of the Champions League later this month.
