Ederson to Man Utd, Trossard to Besiktas: Five Transfers That Could Go Through This Week
0
The summer transfer window is heating up and a flurry of major moves are expected to be finalized in the coming days. With the World Cup still ongoing in North America, clubs are working behind the scenes to reshape their squads. Here are five deals that could be completed this week.
Ederson to Manchester United
Manchester United have finally made their long-awaited move for Atalanta midfielder Ederson. The Brazilian was a target for years, but the Red Devils only formalized their interest in May. Atletico Madrid initially looked like the frontrunner, but they failed to reach an agreement with Atalanta, allowing United to step in. The two clubs settled on a €45 million package, though the announcement was delayed after Ederson was called up to Brazil’s World Cup squad. With Brazil now eliminated, the 27-year-old is expected to be unveiled as a United player shortly.
Jeremy Monga to Manchester City
Leicester City youngster Jeremy Monga has been on the radar of several top clubs. The 16-year-old turned down a professional contract after Leicester’s relegation to League One and appeared set to join Arsenal. However, the Gunners could not agree a compensation deal with the Foxes, and Manchester City swooped in. City are now poised to announce the signing for a fee north of €10 million.
Sean Steur to Newcastle United
Newcastle are determined to avoid another disappointing window. After losing Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali, the Magpies have already brought in goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen and winger Bazouma Toure. Next on the list is Dutch teenager Sean Steur. The 18-year-old AZ midfielder will reportedly cost Newcastle around €27 million, with the club moving quickly to secure his signature ahead of other suitors.
Leandro Trossard to Besiktas
Arsenal winger Leandro Trossard appears to be heading to Turkey. Besiktas have agreed a €20 million package with the Gunners while Trossard is away at the World Cup with Belgium. Personal terms are not yet finalized, and the Belgian has a few days to decide after his team’s victory over the United States. His agent has reportedly traveled to Istanbul to meet with the club, so a resolution might come soon.
Lee Kang-in to Atletico Madrid
Paris Saint-Germain attacker Lee Kang-in used the World Cup as a showcase. He impressed in South Korea’s opening game and caught the eye of Atletico Madrid, who have been chasing him for months. The Spanish club are now ready to finalize a deal worth around €40 million. Lee struggled for regular minutes at PSG, making a move likely once the tournament ends.
