insider Transfer News: Guimaraes to Arsenal talks, Anderson 'here we go', Man Utd agree deal
Football news expert insider has provided an update on several major transfer stories, including the latest on , and Andre Onana.
Man City complete Elliot Anderson transfer
Elliot Anderson has been on ’s radar for months and after lengthy transfer negotiations, a deal has finally been agreed with Nottingham Forest.
This has been confirmed by Romano, who told his YouTube channel: “I spent the last month telling you that Man City were in the driving seat for Elliot Anderson. Back in March, I started reporting that this was their priority, and that has now been confirmed.
“Man Utd were never going to match Man City's bid, and they were never going to complete this deal. Now the story is over.
“Man City have secured the midfielder they wanted from the very beginning of this transfer window. Pep Guardiola identified Elliot Anderson as a key target first, and now Enzo Maresca also wanted him as part of his project.
“Elliot Anderson will now play under Enzo Maresca. Everything has been completed. It is a done deal. It is officially a 'Here We Go'.
“Congratulations to Man City because this is a huge signing. They have secured one of England's most talented midfielders. The player is set to undergo his medical in the United States over the next few days before signing his contract.
“The contract agreement has been in place for some time, and now it is simply a matter of completing the medical tests and waiting for the official announcement from the clubs. An important part of this story is the transfer fee. My understanding is that Man City will pay £116 million, with no add-ons included.
“At the beginning of the breakthrough last night, sources close to Nottingham Forest suggested the total package could reach £130 million including add-ons. However, the latest information indicates the guaranteed fee is £116 million without add-ons.
“That is the final figure as things stand, and Man City have completed the signing of the midfielder they wanted throughout this transfer window.”
Arsenal approach Bruno Guimaraes
are also in the market for a new midfielder and they are now exploring a possible summer move for Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes.
“Speaking of midfielders, I can also confirm reports that have been circulating, including information first reported by Craig Hope regarding Arsenal's interest in Bruno Guimaraes,” Romano said.
“It is true that Arsenal made an approach for Bruno Guimaraes. They contacted both the player's representatives and Newcastle United to explore the possibility of a deal.
“My understanding is that Arsenal hoped to structure a transfer worth around £55 million. Newcastle United immediately rejected that proposal. They have no intention of selling Bruno Guimaraes for that fee and made their position very clear.
“We will now have to wait and see whether Arsenal return with another offer or whether anything changes in the coming weeks.
“At the moment, Bruno Guimaraes is leaving everything in Newcastle United's hands. He is fully respectful of the club and is allowing them to manage the situation.
“So, the current position is straightforward. Arsenal made an approach and attempted to enter the race for Bruno Guimaraes, but Newcastle United are not interested in opening negotiations or discussing a sale, especially not for £55 million.
“As things stand, it remains an attempt rather than an advanced negotiation. If anything changes, as always, I will keep you updated.”
Andre Onana to leave Man Utd
Man Utd are eager to sanction several sales this summer and an agreement has been reached to offload Andre Onana on a permanent deal.
“A verbal agreement is now in place for the goalkeeper to rejoin Trabzonspor in the Turkish Super Lig,” Romano said.
“At this stage, the paperwork still needs to be completed and the final contractual details remain to be signed, but the agreement is there. It is another 'Here We Go'.
“Onana spent last season on loan at Trabzonspor, so he already knows the club extremely well. The original plan was for him to return to Man Utd for pre-season before a final decision was made about his future.
“However, my understanding is that Man Utd's management, together with head coach Michael Carrick, informed the player and his representatives that he would not be part of the club's plans for next season.
“The club were very honest and transparent wit
