Romano Drops Ederson Bombshell, Confirms Andrey Santos and Adeyemi Signings

Transfer insider insider has delivered a string of major updates from the summer market, headlined by the collapse of Manchester United's move for Atalanta midfielder Ederson and the completion of several high-profile deals. Manchester United had been closing in on Ederson, but Romano revealed the deal is dead. “Atalanta received a formal communication that the Ederson deal is off,” he said. “Manchester United decided after several medical tests that Ederson has to be called back.” Atalanta insist the Brazilian is 100% fit, but United pulled the plug. Ederson has one year left on his contract and will remain with the Serie A side. However, United did secure another Brazilian midfielder. Andrey Santos has completed his move from Chelsea for £48 million plus £2 million in add-ons. The 20-year-old signed a five-year contract with a one-year option, and Romano gave the deal his trademark “here we go” confirmation. Across Madrid, Atletico saw their pursuit of Wolves’ Joao Gomes fall apart weeks ago. Instead, they’ve wrapped up three signings: Morten Hjulmand from Sporting CP for €40 million plus €5 million in bonuses, plus left-back Alejandro Grimaldo and winger Kang-in Lee. All three deals are done. Barcelona have been active too. They completed the signing of Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund for €22 million plus €7 million in add-ons, with a sell-on clause. Adeyemi will travel to Barcelona on Wednesday for his medical and will sign a five-year deal. Romano noted the attacker only wanted Barca. This comes after Barcelona earlier added Anthony Gordon to their ranks. The club could also sell Alejandro Garnacho, though no further details were provided. Marcus Rashford has returned to Manchester United after his loan at Barcelona ended. Romano confirmed Rashford will be at the World Cup before reporting for pre-season under Michael Carrick. A good offer could still see him leave, otherwise he'll stay in the squad. Finally, Al-Hilal have shown interest in Barcelona’s Raphinha, but the Brazilian winger wants to remain at the Camp Nou.
