Harry Wilson completes Leeds United move on free transfer after Fulham exit

Leeds United have secured the signing of Harry Wilson on a free transfer after the Wales international’s departure from Fulham.
Wilson turned down offers from Aston Villa and Everton to make the switch to Elland Road, despite Fulham pushing hard to keep him. The Cottagers put a new contract on the table following Wilson’s best Premier League campaign yet — 10 goals and seven assists — which also drew interest from Champions League clubs.
For Leeds, landing Wilson marks a significant coup and brings a sense of closure nearly a year after his Deadline Day move to the club fell through at the last minute.
“I’m really relieved,” Wilson told News. “It was close last year and we got it over the line this year, so I’m delighted to be here.
“I think they had a really strong season last year, so I’m looking forward to getting here, playing in front of the fans here and having another good year. As everyone knows the atmosphere here is incredible. I’ve played here numerous times as an away player and every single time it has been a tough game, an intimidating atmosphere and I’m looking forward to being on the other side of that.”
The 29-year-old, capped 69 times by Wales, will now link up with international teammates Dan James, Ethan Ampadu and Joe Rodon at Elland Road.
Wilson is Leeds’ first signing of the summer window. The club remains in ongoing talks for Southampton midfielder Shea Charles and free-agent playmaker Julian Brandt.
