Courtois set a new record for the Belgian national team in the number of matches at the World Cup

Belgium goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois became the individual record holder of the national team for the number of matches played at the World Cups. The match against New Zealand (5:1) in the third round of the group stage of the World Cup 2026 was the 18th for the 34-year-old goalkeeper in the final parts of the World Cup.
