Tuchel hits out at FIFA over Balogun ruling: 'Where does it stop? Now we'll appeal every red card?'

England manager Thomas Tuchel has launched a pointed attack on FIFA’s decision to overturn Folarin Balogun’s one-match suspension, questioning the governing body’s consistency and vowing to appeal the red card shown to his own defender, Jarrell Quansah, in the World Cup round-of-16 win over Mexico (3–2).
«Where does it start and where does it end? Can we just cancel any decision now?» Tuchel fumed during a press conference. «If FIFA stepped in for Balogun, why can’t we demand the same for Quansah? Where do we draw the line? That’s the question I’m asking».
FIFA earlier this week upheld an appeal by the U.S. Soccer Federation, scrapping the automatic one-game ban for the 22-year-old striker after his controversial sending-off in the group stage. Tuchel argued the move sets a dangerous precedent and insisted he will fight for Quansah, who was dismissed in a key knockout clash. The English FA is now preparing a formal request to FIFA to review the defender’s red card.
