Folarin Balogun Fined $40,000 by FIFA

FIFA's disciplinary committee has slapped U.S. international Folarin Balogun with a $40,000 fine following his sending-off and subsequent actions in the World Cup round of 32 against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Monaco striker was shown a straight red card after a VAR review for a dangerous tackle during the 2026 World Cup clash. But the trouble didn't end there. After the final whistle, Balogun re-entered the field to celebrate with his teammates — a move that FIFA deemed a breach of tournament regulations.
In a statement, the head of the disciplinary panel made it clear that the player's conduct was unacceptable and that the financial penalty serves as a warning for all participants. Balogun, a key figure in the U.S. attack, will now have to pay the $40,000 fine, which was announced as a final decision by the governing body.
