Liverpool Handed Lifeline in Yan Diomande Chase as PSG Drag Their Feet

0
Liverpool have been given a sliver of hope in their pursuit of Yan Diomande after reports emerged that Paris Saint-Germain are in no rush to finalize a deal with RB Leipzig. The Ivory Coast international has been one of the breakout stars of the summer transfer window following his impressive debut season in the Bundesliga. A strong showing at the World Cup only heightened the hype around the 19-year-old winger. Both Liverpool and PSG emerged as the frontrunners for Diomande’s signature in recent weeks. The Reds made a bold move with a €100 million package, but Leipzig rejected the bid. Diomande initially called a move to Anfield a dream, but later backtracked and stated that joining PSG would be a dream come true. Reports suggest Diomande has already agreed personal terms on a five-year contract with the Ligue 1 champions. However, PSG are taking their time negotiating a fee with Leipzig, who are holding out for a figure north of €120 million. The French club is reluctant to meet that valuation after just one full top-flight season from the youngster. The situation medias last summer’s Xavi Simons saga, when Tottenham hijacked Chelsea’s deal despite Simons publicly favoring Stamford Bridge. Chelsea dragged their feet haggling over a fee with Leipzig, and Spurs swooped in to sign the Dutch star. If the deadlock continues, Liverpool may feel emboldened to make another push for the Ivorian wonderkid. The door is not fully closed yet.
