Man United Close to €103m Triple Swoop for Santos, Ederson, Darlow

Manchester United are on the brink of sealing three new arrivals in what promises to be a busy weekend at Old Trafford. After a slow start to the summer window, Michael Carrick’s side are set to add Andrey Santos, Ederson, and Karl Darlow to the squad ahead of the 2026-27 campaign. Santos will make the switch from Chelsea for a fee that could reach €58 million (£50m), while Brazilian midfielder Ederson is arriving from Atalanta after a €45m deal was struck. The combined outlay for the two South Americans could rise to roughly €103m with potential add-ons. Darlow, meanwhile, is coming in on a free transfer from Leeds United, having made 24 appearances for the Championship side last season. He is expected to serve as backup to Senne Lammens. Both Santos and Darlow have already completed their medicals at United’s Carrington base, and the club is now putting Ederson through a thorough medical assessment before rubber-stamping his move. Formal announcements for Santos and Darlow could come within the next 24 hours, with Ederson expected to follow shortly after. United are not stopping there. They want a third central midfielder after the Santos and Ederson deals go through, with Manu Kone, Alex Scott, and Carlos Baleba all on the radar. A new left-back is also a priority, with Lewis Hall the top target, while a left winger could be pursued despite Patrick Dorgu’s strong form in a more advanced role under Carrick. On the outgoing front, United have already wrapped up the permanent sale of Rasmus Hojlund to Napoli for €44m. Jadon Sancho, Casemiro, and Tyrell Malacia have all left on Bosman free transfers after their contracts expired. With Carrick working with a reduced squad, few other departures are expected before the September 1 deadline. Joshua Zirkzee has been linked with an exit and could yet move, but Manuel Ugarte is staying put after a serious knee injury suffered at the World Cup. Altay Bayindir may also be sold following Darlow’s arrival.
