Man Utd Face Last-Minute Race to Trigger Angelo Stiller’s Release Clause
0
Manchester United are up against the clock if they want to land Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller on the cheap. The Germany international’s release clause, believed to be around €36.5 million, expires on Wednesday, meaning the Red Devils would have to move fast to secure a bargain.
United have been tracking Stiller for years and regularly scouted him in person last season, but no concrete talks have taken place. According to BILD, Stuttgart are not actively looking to remove the clause unless a buyer emerges, and with the deadline looming, the club are under no pressure to sell unless a bid arrives today.
The Old Trafford side have already added two midfielders this week – Andrey Santos from Chelsea and Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa – but neither was a primary target. The club’s shortlist also includes Alex Scott, Felix Nmecha, Carlos Baleba and Sander Berge, but Stiller’s availability at a fixed price made him an attractive option.
Should the clause expire, Stuttgart will be free to set their own fee, and with Stiller’s contract running until 2028, any deal would likely cost significantly more than the current buyout figure. United’s chances of a cut-price move look slim unless they act before the window closes on Wednesday.
