Man United Set Sights on Tchouaméni as Midfield Overhaul Takes Shape

0
Manchester United are plotting a blockbuster summer rebuild in the center of the park, with Real Madrid’s Aurélien Tchouaméni emerging as the club’s priority target. Current boss Michael Carrick has made central midfield his chief concern, and the Red Devils already have an agreement in place to land Ederson from Atalanta. But with Casemiro out of contract and Manuel Ugarte sidelined by a serious injury, United need more than just depth – they need elite quality. That’s why the club has turned its attention to Tchouaméni, a player who would instantly raise the ceiling of Carrick’s engine room. Real Madrid are open to selling a midfielder this summer, though they would prefer to offload Eduardo Camavinga – who missed out on France’s 2026 World Cup squad – rather than the 24-year-old French international. According to AS, Los Blancos could be persuaded to part with Tchouaméni if an offer of €100 million or more arrives. With only two years left on his contract, a transfer is far more plausible than it would have been a year ago, even though the player has never publicly pushed for an exit. The goalkeeper department is also under scrutiny. Since David de Gea’s departure, the position has lacked stability. Senne Lammens has performed well, but United want another option. Scouts have been watching the World Cup closely, and Paraguayan shot-stopper Orlando Gill has caught their eye. Gill was the hero in a dramatic penalty shootout win over Germany and delivered a superb display against France despite elimination. Currently at San Lorenzo, Fichajes reports that the club is bracing for a flood of interest. Midfield reinforcements don’t stop with Tchouaméni. United are also tracking Bournemouth’s Alex Scott, though they face fierce competition from Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester City. Scott is seen as an alternative to the Real Madrid man, but ideally Carrick would love both. However, Bournemouth have stated they have no intention of selling this summer, per talkSPORT’s Ben Jacobs. There is encouraging news on Kephren Thuram. Juventus need to raise funds and have slapped a €50m price tag on the midfielder. The Bianconeri are close to signing free agent Franck Kessie, which would free them up to cash in on Thuram. United have also made contact regarding Chelsea’s Andrey Santos. With the Blues failing to qualify for the Champions League and needing to balance the books, a €50m offer could be enough. insider and insider have confirmed United’s interest. Santos started just 13 Premier League matches last season, but United see him as a future star – especially with Real Madrid ruling out a move for Enzo Fernandez. Finally, a move for Sporting CP’s Maxi Araujo appears complicated. His agent, Martin Rodriguez, told El Espectador Deportes: “When a player stands out at Sporting, it’s not easy to get him out. Sporting has a lot of money and doesn’t sell cheaply. Only 20 or 30 clubs in the world can reach Maxi – the Premier League teams and two or three from other major leagues. It’s difficult for him to end up at a club that isn’t one of those.”
