Man Utd Face Barcelona Stalemate Over Rashford, Stiller Release Clause Nears Expiry
0
Manchester United's summer transfer window continues to be a story of stalled deals and complicated negotiations, with updates on Marcus Rashford and Angelo Stiller dominating the conversation.
Creative Rashford solution rejected
After a successful loan spell at Camp Nou last season, a permanent move for Marcus Rashford appeared straightforward. But Barcelona's reluctance to meet United's asking price has derailed those plans.
The Red Devils were willing to get creative—offering to negotiate Rashford's exit if Barcelona included young midfielder Marc Bernal in the package. According to Mundo Deportivo, however, Barcelona have flatly rejected that idea, and Bernal himself has no interest in leaving for Old Trafford.
With no agreement on price, the Rashford saga remains unresolved.
Time is running out for Stiller
United have already added midfielders Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans this summer, but manager Michel Carrick is still looking for more, especially after the collapse of the Ederson deal.
One long-standing target is Stuttgart's Angelo Stiller. BILD reports that the 24-year-old has a release clause of €36.5m in his contract—but it expires on Wednesday, 15 July. If United want to avoid paying over the odds, they need to act fast.
Scouts watched Stiller in person multiple times last season, but with the deadline looming, the clock is ticking.
Greenwood windfall
Manchester United received an unexpected financial boost from Mason Greenwood's move to Fenerbahce. As part of the 2024 transfer that sent Greenwood to Marseille, United inserted a sell-on clause. When the Turkish giants paid €39m for the forward, that clause kicked in, netting United a €12m bonus.
Ederson deal officially dead
insider has put the final nail in the coffin of the Ederson transfer. Atalanta director Cristiano Giuntoli confirmed the deal is completely off.
“Today. Atalanta director Cristiano Giuntoli confirmed exactly what I told you,” Romano said. “Ederson to Manchester United is over. Completely over. Some people said maybe Man Utd could come back in August. It's not true. Manchester United decided against signing Ederson and sent him back to Atalanta.”
Giuntoli added that Atalanta were stunned by the sudden reversal and have since offered Ederson a new contract.
The deal is dead and buried, with no chance of resurrection.
