Martin O'Neill Confirms Celtic's First Summer Signing – Camilo Duran Set to Arrive

Martin O’Neill has confirmed that Celtic are closing in on their first signing of the summer transfer window, with Qarabag winger Camilo Duran expected to join the Scottish champions imminently. The Colombian is undergoing a medical and is set to become O’Neill’s first permanent addition since the Northern Irishman took over the manager’s role last month. Duran will reportedly pen a three-year contract, with Celtic paying around €6 million to the Azerbaijani side for his services. O’Neill revealed that club physio Tim Williamson has travelled to finalise the deal, and the hope is that Duran will link up with the squad in Portugal for pre-season training within the next 24 hours. “He’s still very young. I think he can hold up play well. He’s strong in that department,” O’Neill said. “We need a few players – it’s as simple as that. But I do think he will be a good addition.” The 24-year-old scored nine league goals last season for Qarabag and added five more in ten Champions League appearances, catching Celtic’s eye during their scouting of the region. O’Neill also indicated that Duran will be the first of several new faces, with the club already having submitted offers for other targets. “We have a number of players we’re looking at. We have offers in for players at the same time,” he said. “Hopefully in the next couple of weeks, we will have some really decent players at the football club to add to the decent players we already have.”
