Mohamed Salah 'would agree to sign for Chelsea' – Egyptian insider drops bombshell over Liverpool legend

0
Mohamed Salah would be open to a shock move to Chelsea this summer, according to an insider in Egypt who claims the Liverpool legend would consider a return to his former rivals. Salah is a free agent after recently ending his nine-year stint at Anfield, and the 34-year-old has yet to decide on his future despite interest from a number of sides, including Juventus, Besiktas and several clubs in Saudi Arabia. The forward’s ties to Liverpool have led many to believe Salah would not join another Premier League side, but Egyptian broadcasters ON Sport have reported that Salah would only consider remaining in England for one club – Chelsea. The claim was made by reporter Ahmed Dorwish, who said that while Chelsea have not made an offer, Salah has allegedly told friends he would consider a return to his former club. “The only club that when Salah was asked—as if I am sitting with him, me and Salah right now—could you play in it and agree? Who? Chelsea,” Dorwish told ON Sport. “The only club that was said about Salah, if this is offered to you, you agree, it is the only club in England that said this about Salah—his desire, if there is a single club in England he plays in, it is Chelsea, his old club. “I don’t want to upset Liverpool fans, and I don’t want to lose them. I mean, if an offer came tomorrow from Manchester United for £400 million? No, no. “Chelsea is the only one that Salah might agree to play in in England. And no offer was submitted to him from Chelsea, just so I am clear with you. But between Salah and between his friends and those close to him: 'I agree to play in Chelsea only in England.'” ON Sport is one of the biggest broadcasters in Egypt, though it is unclear how credible their claims are despite boasting more than three million followers on social media. Dorwish suggested Salah was close to deciding his future and that a move to Turkey could be the most likely outcome, with Chelsea not actively pursuing the former Liverpool star, nor had the player indicated he was looking to stay in the Premier League. Salah had a two-year stint with Chelsea between 2014 and 2016 but failed to make an impact, playing just 13 times in the Premier League. There could be a feeling of unfinished business, particularly in London, which has a vibrant Egyptian community. Besiktas were claimed to have the best financial offer for Salah, and the forward is thought to prefer a move to Turkey, where he has business investments and can play in the Champions League, over a switch to Saudi Arabia. A move to Chelsea remains purely speculative at this stage, with no suggestion that Salah would move to Stamford Bridge this summer. No decision has been made by the ex-Liverpool star as of yet.
