The Swedish national team set a record for performance at the World Championships

0
The Swedish national team made a bright start at the 2026 World Cup, in the match of the first round of the group stage. Graham Potter's team not only won a convincing victory, but also rewrote their own statistics of performances at the world championships. The last time the Swedes scored at least five goals in one World Cup match was back in 1938. Then, on June 12, 1938, the Swedish national team scored seven goals in a match against Cuba. Since then, the team has not been able to repeat a similar performance at the World Cup. Thus, the victory over Tunisia became a historic performance for the Swedish national team and the team's best performance at the World Cup in the last 88 years.
