Vyacheslav Sharpar, a former midfielder of Vorskla, Volyn, Hoverla and a number of other clubs, died at the age of 40.
The football player's mother Valentyna Sharpar informed about the tragic event. According to her, Vyacheslav passed away on June 2.
"It is very difficult for me to write these words today. On June 2, our dear and blessed son Vyacheslav tragically passed away.
He came into our lives as a great joy and became for us a real gift from God. We were lucky to see how he grows, matures, dreams, persistently goes to his goal and achieves it, becoming a famous football player. We rejoiced in his success, his strength, his talent.
He left behind the most precious inheritance - four beautiful children, our grandchildren. And even today, when the pain seems unbearable, we thank God for every day that was given to us with him.
Now Vyacheslav's body is in Greece. There is a difficult path ahead of him to return home to Ukraine, so that we can see him on his last journey according to our Christian traditions," Sharpar's mother wrote on Facebook.
Sharpar is best remembered for his performances for Vorskla and Volhynia. As part of the Poltava club, he spent several bright seasons, and also scored a goal against London Arsenal in the Europa League match of the 2018/19 season.
During his career, the midfielder also defended the colors of Kyiv Arsenal, Hoverla, Kazakhstan Atyrau and other teams. He has two matches for the youth national team of Ukraine. The football player ended his professional career in 2021 as part of Volyn.
