AC Milan has announced the appointment of Ruben Amorim as head coach of the first team.
The 40-year-old Portuguese started his coaching career in 2018 after playing professionally for Belenenses, Benfica and the Portugal national team.
The first clubs in his coaching resume were Casa Pia and Braga, and Amorim gained real recognition after being appointed to Sporting in March 2020. Under his leadership, the Lisbon club won the Portuguese championship twice, triumphed twice in the League Cup and won the country's Super Cup.
The last place of work of the Portuguese was Manchester United, after which he agreed to lead the Italian giant.
Milan emphasized that Amorim is known for his modern tactical approach, clear game structure and ability to reveal the potential of young footballers.
According to insider Fabrizio Romano, the new coach's contract with the Rossoneri runs until June 2028 and includes an option to extend it for another season - until the summer of 2029.
