Maguire is not going to end his career in the England national team after missing the 2026 World Cup

Harry Maguire has said he has no plans to call it quits with England after failing to make the team's bid for the 2026 World Cup. England head coach Thomas Tuchel informed the 33-year-old centre-back of the decision during a FaceTime call. According to the football player, this news was a big disappointment for him. Maguire stated that he considered his performances to be enough to earn a place in the team for the World Cup. "I immediately said that I was very disappointed. I thought that I had done enough to be in the national team and could help on and off the field. He said that he was not looking for excuses, but he chose four players who helped him all fall," the defender said. The footballer added that after returning to the national team in March, he played well and ended the season at Manchester United in a confident state. "I seriously thought I'd be in the squad after he first called me up in March. I did well in both games and then I went back to Manchester United and finished the season very confidently," Maguire said. Despite not being invited to the main tournament, the defender does not consider the option of ending his international career. "I don't think I'll retire from the England team. I feel I still have something to offer. There will come a time when I don't deserve a call-up, but I probably won't end my career with the national team anyway. If I played one more game, it would be worth it," concluded Maguire. The center back played more than 60 matches for the England national team.
