Midfielder Sergi Roberto has announced the end of his career in Como, Italy. The 34-year-old footballer said goodbye to the club and its fans, publishing an emotional appeal on social networks.
The Spaniard joined Como after the team's promotion to Serie A and became part of an ambitious project that has made significant progress in a short time.
"I arrived at Como immediately after it achieved promotion to Serie A, full of enthusiasm for the new challenge. Today I leave with a sense of pride that the club has managed to qualify for the Champions League - something that seemed like a dream when the journey began," wrote Roberto.
The footballer also thanked the club and the city for the warm welcome, stressing that Como has become a real home for him and his family.
"Looking back, I am incredibly proud of everything we achieved together. Not only the results on the field, but also the people I met along the way. From the first day, my family and I felt like welcome guests and loved people," the midfielder added.
In the 2025/26 season, the Barcelona native made 24 appearances for Como in all competitions, scoring one goal.
During his career in the Catalan giants, Roberto won 20 trophies, including the title of Spanish champion and winner of the Champions League. Interestingly, Como is currently headed by another former Barcelona player, Cesc Fabregas.
