Manchester City came close to the record transfer of Anderson

Manchester City are close to completing one of the most expensive transfers in the history of British football. The club have almost completed negotiations over the transfer of Nottingham Forest and England midfielder Elliott Anderson.
The deal is expected to be worth around £130m. If the transfer is completed, it will become a record among transfers of English footballers.
Nottingham Forest have reportedly rejected two bids from Manchester City in the past, including a £120m bid. However, the parties managed to agree on key details regarding the structure of payments, which significantly brought the conclusion of the agreement closer.
Anderson is currently in England's squad for the 2026 World Cup. Manchester City plans to conduct a medical examination of the footballer directly in the USA, where the tournament is held.
In the leadership of the city, the 23-year-old midfielder is seen as a long-term successor to Bernardo Silva, who left the club during the current transfer window. Official confirmation of the transfer is expected after final approval of the deal by Nottingham Forest.
