Canada and Morocco are set to lock horns in the round of 16 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup at NRG Stadium in Houston tonight. The winner will advance to face either Spain or Brazil in the quarterfinals.
Canada head coach Jesse Marsh, coming off a 1-0 group-stage win over South Africa, has made some bold calls. Teenage defender Luc de Fougerolles gets his first start of the tournament at centre-back, while midfielders Niko Sigur and Ali Ahmed also come into the XI.
Morocco, who knocked out the Netherlands on penalties in the previous round, field an experienced lineup. Yassine Bounou starts in goal, and Ryan Halhal partners in central defence after replacing the suspended Achraf Dari.
Canada lineup: Crépeau — Johnston, De Fougerolles, Bombito, Laryea — Buchanan, Sigur, Eustáquio, Ahmed — David, Oluwaseyi.
Morocco lineup: Bounou — Hakimi, Diop, Halhal, Mazraoui — Bouaddi, El Aynaoui — Díaz, Ounahi, El Khannouss — Saibari.
Kickoff is set for 12:00 PM CT (20:00 Kyiv time).
