Jordan Henderson injured after England's World Cup win over Mexico – a bizarre celebration mishap

0
England booked their spot in the World Cup 2026 quarterfinals by beating Mexico in the Round of 16, but the post-match celebrations took a worrying turn when Jordan Henderson was stretchered off with a wrist injury. As the Three Lions went over to salute their fans at the Estadio Azteca, Henderson attempted to hop over an advertising board but landed awkwardly on his wrist. Teammates instantly signaled for the medical staff, and the midfielder was carried down the tunnel on a stretcher. Ironically, Henderson hadn't played a single minute in the match – though he did pick up a yellow card for unsporting behavior earlier. Manager Thomas Tuchel updated the midfielder's condition after the game: “Jordan fell and hurt his wrist. It looked really bad,” said the German boss. England's next fixture is against Norway in Miami on July 12. Henderson's availability for that game is now in serious doubt.
