Zion Suzuki rejects Leeds: Japanese keeper turns down Premier League move

0
Parma and Japan goalkeeper Zion Suzuki has decided to stay put, turning down a move to Leeds United this summer. According to journalist Nicolò Schira, the Premier League side had already struck a deal with the Italian club — a €30 million transfer fee — but the 23-year-old shot-stopper personally rejected the proposal. Leeds were prepared to offer Suzuki a contract running until the summer of 2031, but the player was not convinced. Parma, on their part, had agreed to sell their No. 1 for the reported sum, but the final decision always rested with the goalkeeper. Suzuki joined Parma in the summer of 2024 from Belgian side Sint-Truiden for €8.2 million. In the 2025/26 season, he made 32 appearances across club and international football, keeping ten clean sheets and conceding 39 goals. Earlier reports had linked Leeds with a serious pursuit of a new goalkeeper, and Suzuki was among the top targets. Now the Championship side — soon to be back in the Premier League — will have to look elsewhere.
