Barcelona Ready to Sell Ferran Torres to Avoid Paying Manchester City Bonus
0
Barcelona are preparing to offload Ferran Torres this summer as they look to sidestep a hefty financial obligation to Manchester City. The Catalan club have no intention of extending the 26-year-old forward's contract, which runs until the end of the 2026/27 season.
According to The Athletic, if Barcelona sign a new deal with Torres, they would be forced to pay Manchester City around €8 million – a clause inserted in the original transfer agreement.
Sporting director Deco has therefore ruled out an extension. Instead, the club is leaning toward selling the Spaniard in the upcoming transfer window rather than losing him on a free transfer in a year's time.
Paris Saint-Germain and Atlético Madrid are both monitoring the situation closely.
This season, Torres has made 49 appearances across all competitions, scoring 21 goals and providing three assists.
