Xaver Schlager set to join Nottingham Forest on a free transfer

Nottingham Forest have reached an agreement with former RB Leipzig midfielder Xaver Schlager, according to The Athletic. The 28-year-old Austrian will sign a two-year deal with an option for a third season. Schlager is available on a free transfer after his contract with the Bundesliga side expired. He joined Leipzig in the summer of 2022 and went on to make 108 appearances, scoring five goals and adding ten assists. While there had been other clubs in the race for his signature, the Premier League outfit appears to have won the battle for the experienced central midfielder.
