Chelsea complete record signing of Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa

Chelsea have officially announced the signing of attacking midfielder Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa. The 23-year-old has put pen to paper on a long-term contract running until the summer of 2033 and will join Xabi Alonso’s squad ahead of the 2026/27 campaign. According to club sources, the deal is worth a flat £117 million — no add-ons, no performance-related clauses — making Rogers both Chelsea’s most expensive acquisition ever and the most expensive British player in history. Rogers came through Aston Villa’s academy and went on to make 125 appearances for the club, scoring 31 goals and providing 29 assists. In the Premier League alone, he featured 85 times, directly contributing to 40 goals (goals plus assists). He also played a key role in Villa’s Europa League triumph last season. On the international stage, the winger made his England debut in November 2024 and has since earned 22 caps, including appearances at the 2026 World Cup.
