Summerville Holds Out: Al-Hilal Agreed Deal with West Ham, but Player Hasn't Given Green Light

Saudi Arabian powerhouse Al-Hilal has reached a full agreement with West Ham United for the transfer of Dutch winger Crysencio Summerville. The fee is set at €80 million — a figure no European club was willing to match for the 24-year-old, making it an easy decision for the Hammers from a business standpoint. But there’s a catch: the player himself has yet to give the nod. That hesitation has opened the door for Roma, who have tabled a much smaller offer of €47 million plus add-ons but are pulling out all the stops to lure Summerville to Serie A. Roma head coach Gian Piero Gasperini personally called the winger for a long conversation, laying out his vision and how Summerville fits into the project. Now it all comes down to the player’s choice. Last season, Summerville recorded seven goals and five assists in 34 club appearances.
