Ponomarov: We analyzed Gent thoroughly and are ready for historic debut

Vitaliy Ponomarov, head coach of Ukrainian side LNZ, shared his expectations ahead of the club’s first-ever European fixture — a Europa Conference League second qualifying round clash against Gent. The Cherkasy-based manager thanked the Polish city of Plock for hosting the match, stressing its importance for a Ukrainian club in the current circumstances. Despite LNZ's lack of continental experience, Ponomarov insisted the team is well prepared and shows no fear of the Belgian opponents. “We respect Gent, but we are ready. There is no anxiety — just responsibility and determination. We have broken down their game in detail, and I believe preparation will be the deciding factor,” Ponomarov said during his pre-match press conference. He also noted that qualifying for European competition was the club’s goal last season, so there is no extra pressure. Ponomarov promised fans full commitment from his players. The first leg takes place on July 23 in Plock, kicking off at 21:30 Kyiv time.
