Dortmund Rejected: Köln Turn Down First Bid for Winger Said El Mala

Borussia Dortmund have made their first move for Köln’s highly rated teenage winger, but the initial offer fell well short of the asking price. According to Sky Sport DE, the Black and Yellows tabled a guaranteed €26 million, plus another €8 million in easily achievable bonuses and an additional €8 million tied to more demanding targets. The total package climbed above €40 million, but Köln immediately dismissed it. The club believes the proposal does not reflect the true market value of 19-year-old Said El Mala. This isn’t the first time Köln have drawn a hard line. Back in May, Brentford were ready to pay around €50 million, and Köln agreed to sell – but the player himself turned down a move to England. Dortmund aren’t giving up. A new, improved offer is expected in the coming days. El Mala is open to joining BVB and views the switch positively, though he continues to train with Köln during their pre-season camp. Last season (2025/26), the winger made 36 appearances, scored 13 goals, and provided five assists, catching the eye of several top clubs across Europe.
