Atlanta United in Talks for Darwin Núñez, Eye Breel Embolo as Target

Atlanta United has entered the transfer market with serious ambition, opening negotiations for Al-Hilal striker Darwin Núñez. According to The Athletic, the MLS side has made contact with the Uruguayan’s camp, though discussions remain at an early stage. In addition to Núñez, Atlanta is also working on alternative options, including Switzerland international Breel Embolo. To accommodate such high-profile moves, the club must free up a designated player slot — and Atlanta is expected to soon part ways with its most expensive signing ever, Emmanuel Latte Lath. Núñez, 27, managed six goals and four assists in 16 appearances for Al-Hilal last season. He lost his roster spot after Karim Benzema’s arrival due to the Saudi league’s foreign player limit. The former Liverpool man, who joined the Reds from Benfica in 2022 for around $90 million, scored 25 goals in 95 Premier League matches.
