Japan’s Hajime Moriyasu to remain head coach until 2027 — JFA confirms

0
Hajime Moriyasu will continue to lead the Japan national team through early 2027, the Japan Football Association has announced. The 55-year-old will take charge of the Samurai Blue at the 2027 AFC Asian Cup, scheduled for January and February, before stepping down immediately after the tournament. His successor will be Go Oiwa, currently the head coach of Japan’s U-20 side. Oiwa will oversee both the youth and senior teams in the interim before fully taking over. Japan’s last major tournament was the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where they finished second in their group and were eliminated in the round of 32 after a 2-1 loss to Brazil.
