Hull City confirm free-agent signing of Japan midfielder Hidemasa Morita

Hidemasa Morita is no longer a Sporting CP player. The Portuguese side officially bid farewell to the Japan international central midfielder after his contract expired at the end of last season. The 31-year-old held talks with a number of clubs across Europe, but the most convincing offer came from Hull City - a side freshly promoted back to the Premier League. Morita has put pen to paper on a two-year deal, with the transfer now made official. The Tigers landed him on a free transfer, paying no fee to Sporting. Over four seasons with Sporting, Morita racked up 166 appearances in all competitions, scoring 11 goals and providing 16 assists. In the most recent campaign alone, he featured 50 times, netting once and setting up five more.
