Kasper Heg on the Verge of Celtic Move - Medical Scheduled Within 24 Hours
1
Celtic manager Martin O'Neill has confirmed that Bodo/Glimt striker Kasper Heg is set to undergo a medical with the Scottish champions in the next 24 hours. The £11 million deal for the Danish international would be a club-record transfer.
Speaking after Saturday's 2-2 preseason friendly draw against AC Milan at Celtic Park, O'Neill sounded upbeat but cautious: "I hope it happens. I think there is a big chance, but until he actually signs and puts pen to paper, there's always a bit of uncertainty. It's definitely moving forward." Asked specifically about the imminent medical, he added: "Yes, obviously. I think it will happen within the next 24 hours."
The news comes as a relief for the Celtic board, who have been under pressure after fan favorite Daizen Maeda was sold to Ipswich Town on Saturday. Celtic's summer business had been quiet until now - only one signing was made prior to Heg. Colombian forward Camilo Duran, however, has already made an impact, scoring three goals in three preseason appearances.
Celtic have also been linked with 22-year-old German midfielder Mika Baur of Paderborn, but O'Neill refused to confirm those rumors. "I can't tell you that at the moment. I was preparing for the game. We'll see where we are tomorrow. We have a few other things in the pipeline that could happen, which would be great for us," he said.
An official announcement for Heg is expected in the coming days once the medical is completed successfully.
