Manchester City Eye Marc Bernal as Rodri's Successor

Marc Bernal, the 19-year-old defensive midfielder from Barcelona, has grown significantly over the past two seasons and is now knocking on the door of the first team. Though the youngster has made it clear he does not intend to leave the club this summer - his contract still has three years to run - interest from the transfer market remains high. The Premier League is leading the chase, with Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City all monitoring the situation. City view Bernal as a potential replacement should Rodri complete a move to Real Madrid during the current window. At the same time, the champions could step up their pursuit of Lille's Moroccan midfielder Ayub Bouaddi as an alternative. Negotiations with Barcelona, however, would not be straightforward: Bernal's contract contains a €500 million release clause. Last season, the Spaniard made 33 appearances (1,313 minutes), scoring five goals and providing one assist.
